County Louth Garda in association with Centra, present the Louth Garda Youth Awards. These awards recognise the very positive contribution young people between the ages of 13 and 21 years are making in their communities. Awards will be considered for nominated young people who by their activities make their communities a better place to live, or who have shown great determination in their own lives. If you wish to nominate someone or to be nominated for a Youth Award, forms can be downloaded from centra.ie/about/garda-youth-awards. Closing date for applications is Tuesday May 7th 2024.

Individual Award

youth who make a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Group Award

groups of 2 or more who make a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Special Achievement Award

Youth who has overcome difficult circumstances, defied all the odds and whose bravery deserves recognition.

Community safety award

Youths who through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation have made their community a safer place to live.

Outstanding Contribution to Young People Award

Throughout the county many young people receive invaluable help along the way from an adult mentor, coach, leader this vital work deserves recognition.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

  1. Awards are confined to those young people who are aged between 13 and 21 years of age. (except outstanding contribution to young people award).
  2. Permanent residence of the young person must be within the County Louth Garda.
  3. Awards are confined to individuals and groups of two or more young people.
  4. Judge’s decision is final.
  5. Any member of the public including Garda may nominate anyone whom they feel deserve an award.
  6. Nominations may come from family members or relatives.
  7. The judging Panel will decide upon nominees to go forward to represent the division at the National Garda Youth Awards.
